Investigating gender presentation as a foundational element of queer expression, ‘Shirt & Tie’ explores contemporary lesbian identity through the subversion of traditional masculine clothing. The multimedia project consists of a screen-printed image paired with an archival artist book showcasing the artist’s personal tie collection. The work directly interrogates the visual language of masculinity as it actively challenges the legacy of the shirt and tie as institutional symbols of patriarchal authority, corporate conformity, and male privilege. Through this intimate archival framing, the project reclaims these rigid garments, transforming them into a radical site of lesbian self-expression, desire, and community visibility.

The work consists of a screen printed shirt and a hand bound book archiving the artists personal tie collection. The book contains 32 removable acetone tie prints and a fold out screen printed poster.
