CMYK SCREEN PRINT, 29.7 x 42 cmThis piece was a commission from the University of Salford Archives inspired by the historical course prospectuses discovered in the archives. Out of everything the artist read, a single phrase stood out: "No school would be complete without its social life of fun and good fellowship." Finding this quote highlighted a beautiful sense of continuity. It is a testament to the power of the archive that a fragment of text from over a century ago can still resonate so deeply with the contemporary student experience. Even as the institution evolved from a technical institute into a modern university, its focus on this community has remained at the forefront. While university primarily functions as an academic milestone, the artist realised it is the friendships and personal connections made throughout your time studying that stay with you the longest. Ultimately, the heart of the university is defined by this shared connection; even after 130 years, that truth remains completely unchanged.
